Small quadrupeds · OEM / ODM
Lulu-style desktop quadruped robots — OEM & custom development
Desktop quadrupeds look simple and are not. Twelve joints at 20 cm scale means small servos with backlash, a body with very little room for a battery, and a gait that has to work on a surface the buyer did not think about. The parts that decide whether it feels like a pet or a broken toy are the gait library, the recovery behaviour after a push, and the idle motion between commands.
Who usually comes to us
STEM and education companies
A programmable platform with curriculum hooks, teacher material and a firmware base that survives a classroom.
Developer and maker brands
Documented protocol, open SDK, replaceable servos — a platform your community can actually build on.
Companion robot brands
A quadruped with personality for the desk: idle behaviour, voice and a face, at a retail price.
Toy and gift channels
A walking character as a hero gift item, with the drop and cycle testing a gift channel needs.
What decides whether a desktop quadruped works
The gait library, not the servos
Trot, walk, crawl, turn-in-place and push-recovery, each tuned to the body mass and the servo class. A platform with good servos and one borrowed gait looks exactly like a toy.
Backlash you can feel in the legs
Cheap gear trains add 3–5 degrees of slop per joint, which compounds into a visible wobble. Either pay for tighter servos or design a gait that hides it — and know which one you are doing.
Falling is a feature to design
It will fall. A recovery behaviour — roll, push up, re-orient — turns a failure into a demo. Without it, one fall in a store ends the sale.
Battery where there is no room
Twelve servos under load pull current a small pack cannot sustain. Cell choice, discharge curve and a thermal path have to be designed into the body, not added under the belly.

Two ways to develop with us
White-label a quadruped platform
A working platform with our gait library and app, under your brand and colourway.
Best for: The fastest route into the category.
New body on a proven gait stack
Your shell and proportions on the servo layout and firmware we already run — new tooling for the body only.
Best for: Where most brand projects land.
Full custom quadruped
New DOF count, vision, new gait development, your own app and cloud — concept through certification to volume.
Best for: For a platform that has to outperform the reference.

Bring the AI stack your market needs
Our firmware is decoupled from any single provider. Depending on where you sell, your data-residency rules and your budget, we connect the device to the right LLM, speech and IoT cloud. These are the kinds of services we have integrated.
For China
- Baidu AI Cloud Solution sales partner Cloud AI and voice services
- Mainstream Chinese LLMs Several to choose from, per project
- Speech recognition & synthesis Major speech engines
- IoT provisioning & branded app Device setup and app under your brand
- Audio / video storage & delivery Audio / video cloud for content
For global markets
- Leading overseas LLMs Chosen per market and language

Questions buyers ask
Are you affiliated with Lulu or its developer?
No. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or a supplier to Lulu or its developer. We develop small quadruped platforms for other brands and do not reproduce protected designs or firmware.
How many degrees of freedom should we start with?
Four servos gets you a hopping, turning character at toy cost; eight gives a believable walk and head motion; twelve adds proper body articulation and vision. Each step roughly doubles the firmware work, so start at the level your product actually needs.
Can it work on carpet?
At desktop scale, yes, with the right foot design and a gait tuned for higher friction and uneven pile — but it costs battery life. Tell us the surfaces your buyers actually use; it changes the foot geometry and the gait set.
Is the SDK really open?
The serial protocol, motion API and the gait parameter layer are documented and open. The lower-level motor control loop and the visual model are ours. We will send the documentation before you commit, so you can check it against what your community needs.
Tell us what you want to build
The category, your market, a quantity and whether an IP is involved is plenty for a first answer. Samples available; proven products are available as OEM, custom ones as ODM. Development and sample arrangements are agreed together once we understand the project.
